The Tasmanian Association for Recreational Fishing Inc. (TARFish) has identified that its current operating model is not sustainable. Fishers in the valuable Western Rock Lobster (WRL) fishery, off the southern coast of Western Australia, face a complex operating environment with multiple layers of compliance, often administered by different entities. This project will research options for resource co-management and improved control of compliance and operational costs; investigate traceability systems to track catch to plate; and increase sustainability through precision fishing backed by robust data analytics platforms, to provide members with greater financial and operational certainty.
