Nursery Sustainability - Undertaking a life cycle assessment

This investment is developing a tool for nursery growers to compare their environmental performance against industry-average benchmarks. This information will allow the nursery industry and individual growers to understand the environmental impact of their supply chain and improve their performance over time.

This project will engage with Australian nursery growers to measure direct, indirect, and supply chain carbon emissions and other critical environmental impacts to establish performance benchmarks.

This research will put the nursery industry on the front foot by measuring environmental performance and establishing the industry as a leader in sustainability. Specifically, it will provide a basis for improvements in, and evidence of, the industry’s continued best management practices in areas such as climate change, waste management and recycling, water, energy, and environmental management.
