Pasture Monitoring in the Rangelands

The Producer Demonstration Site (PDS) funded by this project aims to demonstrate that routine monitoring and management of key pasture species can boost the productivity of rangelands livestock businesses. The project will engage 5 core producers and 15 observer producers responsible for managing 700,000ha, 140,000 sheep and 2,500 cattle.

Testing Tropicals - NSW Southern Slopes

This project will fund a Producer Demonstration Site (PDS) featuring tropical and sub-tropical pasture species in production systems on the southern slopes of New South Wales. Producers will be able to compare these species to current summer feed options (e.g. lucerne and summer-active perennials), and work out what management adaptations would be necessary to successfully incorporate these species.

Building capacity in effluent system design for dairy

The objective of this project is to provide certified accredited training for service providers in effluent (liquid waste and sewage) design and management, so that dairy farmers have access to qualified personnel to assist with their systems and ensure that effluent management is within Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) guidelines for each state.

Grazing Intelligence

This project aims to help producers make better grazing decisions . Food Agility, together with the NSW Department of Primary Industries and agtech company Pasture.io, will deliver machine learning models that remotely predicts animal performance and daily pasture availability. These ‘Grazing Intelligence’ models will improve the confidence of producers in making grazing and livestock value-adding decisions. They will provide clear animal performance recommendations and projections through the Pasture.io software.

Oysters Australia IPA: Australian edible oyster RD&E investment via Oysters Australia strategic plan 2014-2019

This project, an Industry Partnership Agreement (IPA) between Fisheries Research and Development Corporation (FRDC) and Oysters Australia (OA), was instigated to manage project development between and within OA's member states and co-ordinate access to the most suitable funding sources for RD&E goals. During the life of the four-year project, 33 oyster R&D projects to the value of $10.1 million were conducted, with the IPA involved in all but three projects.
