Coordination of the National Priority 1 Subprogram: To ensure that Australian fishing and aquaculture products are sustainable and acknowledged to be so

There are increasing community expectations about the social and environmental performance of fisheries and a growing need for accurate and timely information to defend the fishing industry, bolster good purchasing decisions by consumers and protect the reputational integrity of seafood businesses. This project progressed the meeting of National Priority 1 objectives for the industry, to ensure that Australian fishing and aquaculture products are sustainable and acknowledged to be so. Progress has also been made on development and standardisation within all jurisdictions to ensure consistent language and approaches to defining sustainability and responsible fisheries management practices.
