Lucerne Variety Trial – Assess optimum plant stress levels for seed production

The importance of Lucerne as a pasture species in Australia has been supported by innovation of new varieties. This variety trial will generate and communicate independent data on the performance of newer lucerne varieties grown under a number of different irrigation management systems in Australian conditions. Plant stress through changes in irrigation management may alter the phenology and seed production of varieties in various ways. Measures of herbage and seed yield will support decision making of Australian seed lucerne producers when assessing new varieties.
