Development of a RD&E Plan for Kakadu Plum industries

The project's goal is to create five-year RD&E Plan for the Australian Kakadu Plum sectors from 2023/24 to 2028/29. The RD&E Plans are documents that formulate key industry strategies that help enhance one or more of the following:
- productivity, profitability, sustainability or industry supply
- industry capacity and capability
- social or community engagement
- intellectual property protection
The RD&E Plans will be developed with input from various stakeholders along the value chain of Kakadu Plum production, processing, storage, marketing, and consumption, such as farmers, Indigenous communities, key research institutions, agri-businesses, retailers and exporters. The RD&E Plans will assist AgriFutures in determining how to invest funds in the identified research, development, and extension initiatives.

The RD&E Plan will also specify how the identified research, development, or extension priorities will be implemented and communicated to the wider group of stakeholders and how they will be monitored, evaluated, and reported to ensure that it responds to the changing needs as the industry evolves.
