Validating HSRA data for shipping routes crossing the equator
The heat stress risk assessment (HSRA) model currently used by the livestock export industry ahead of each voyage from Australia to the Middle East uses historical weather data for shipping routes and ports to determine the likelihood of hot and humid weather. The regulator has mandated its use for all voyages crossing the equator, to determine the risk of extreme hot and cold weather causing stress to the sheep and cattle on the ships. This project will provide data for additional shipping routes and 63 ports.
