Southern Rock Lobster Planning and Management for a National Research Development & Extension (RD&E) Program

The project aims to address the evolving challenges and opportunities faced by the Southern Rock Lobster industry in Australia. The decline in beach prices, trade disruptions, and changing consumer preferences necessitate the adaptation of the industry to new markets and demands. By coordinating the planning and management of research, development, and extension (RD&E) activities, the project will ensure that resources are strategically allocated and utilized efficiently. It will establish a corporate structure and processes to provide effective leadership, governance, and stakeholder engagement. The project will facilitate the dissemination of research outcomes and promote the adoption of new technologies and practices through effective extension services. Additionally, it will enable the industry to address emerging issues such as carbon reduction, circular economy practices, animal welfare, and climate change. By aligning RD&E efforts with industry needs, the project will contribute to the sustainable development and profitability of the Southern Rock Lobster sector, fostering its resilience and competitiveness in a changing environment.
