Review of the national biosecurity plan for the banana industry
Biosecurity planning is a key risk mitigation strategy that gives an industry the best chance of future viability and sustainability. This project aims to review the biosecurity plan for the banana industry and support this industry in satisfying their biosecurity obligations under the Emergency Plant Pest Response Deed. Exotic pests are assessed and prioritised by technical experts to identify high priority exotic and endemic pests. An expert group is convened from government and industry to agree to mitigation measures to protect against identified high priority pests. This implementation plan is then reviewed annually over the life of the project through the Biosecurity Reference Panel.
