Informing strategies, policies and options supporting owner-operated fishing businesses in fisheries experiencing corporatisation

This project aims to host a workshop for fishery managers and leaders to inform management strategies, policies and options in small-scale fisheries that are experiencing a reduction in fleet size and a concentration in ownership. It will:

  1. plan for and adapt to corporatisation in the southern rock lobster fishery, summarising concerns and identify possible solutions;
  2. identify ways that fishers can become better organized and protect their interests; and
  3. identify comparisons with fisheries that exist within other Individual Transfer Quota managed systems.
