Improved Genetic Gain through GRDC Participation in Barley Pan-genome Consortium
A pan genome describes all the genes and genetic variation within a species. A comprehensive understanding of this genetic variation in barley will enable researchers to more rapidly determine the genetic control of important traits such as heat tolerance and disease resistance. It will also assist breeders in fast tracking the integration of these traits into new varieties and by utilising the most current breeding technologies increase the rate of genetic gain in barley.
