Commercial production trial with high POMS tolerant triploid Pacific Oysters in approved NSW estuaries.

This project offers significant opportunity to accelerate the Australian Pacific Oyster industry to grow in production and value. It does this by conducting a commercial production trial of Pacific Oyster Mortality Syndrome (POMS) tolerant Pacific Oysters in approved New South Wales estuaries. The increased tolerant to the OsHV-u1 virus combined with triploidy provides for increased growth and better condition for extended periods compared with diploid oysters. This project will test this hypothesis and ascertain the performance and survival of the triploid, POMS tolerant oysters under commercial growing conditions.
