Biorefineries for Profit Phase 3

Delivering the vision of an Australian agricultural sector with a farmgate value of $100 billion by 2030 requires improved productivity and better integration of crop and livestock production. Sugarcane is Australia’s largest harvested crop and is a stable but untapped source of fibre for livestock.

Transformation of sugarcane bagasse into livestock feed ingredients will provide growers and millers with commercial opportunities in both the monogastric and ruminant livestock sectors. The project will demonstrate the potential for sugarcane bagasse-derived livestock feed ingredients in the relatively high-volume ruminant livestock sector and lay the groundwork for further development and commercialisation.
