Optomni: OmniOrder® seeking partners for commercial beta field trials and collaboration

Opportunity for

  • Fresh produce and perishable food primary producers and wholesalers with between $10-50M turnover to participate in a commercial beta field trial
  • Industry groups, solution providers and potential research partners who are conducting work around market insights, traceability, and demand side modelling to collaborate.

Opportunity description

Industry challenge:

In Australia, around 20% of fresh produce and perishables are lost before reaching retailer shelves. A major factor for this is supply-demand mismatches, which occur because growers and wholesalers have poor visibility of downstream demand and are unable to accurately match stock of variable specifications with demand across multiple channels. This costs the industry $1.6B annually and accounts for 4M tonnes of carbon emissions.

OmniOrder® is a trading and optimisation platform that optimises growers’ and wholesalers’ supply decisions with market demand. This reduces waste, and also helps growers and wholesalers maximise profits and access new market opportunities.

OmniOrder® uses machine learning to forecast demand using transactional data and our composite datasets and allow suppliers to supply exactly how much buyers will need, based on their unique specifications. Accurate demand forecasting and inventory optimisation has been shown to reduce supply chain losses by up to 25% in fresh & perishable supply chains.

OmniOrder® also digitalises trade, from orders, invoices, inventory, pricing, promotions, as well as handling invoicing workflows and automates transactional workflows. It is highly integrable with accounting systems, retailer workflows, graders and packhouse systems that record batches and is built for fresh specific inventory and order fulfilment workflows.

Current opportunity:

After a successful early access period in 2022, OmniOrder® is now live in commercial beta.

Optomni are looking for businesses that meet the following criteria to participate in field trials / commercial beta:

  • Fresh produce and perishable food primary producers and wholesalers with turnover between $10-50M
  • Seeking to digitalise trading and inventory operations and automate back office processes
  • Ideally running Xero or MYOB as an accounting system although this is flexible
  • Interested in getting a forward view of customer demand across multiple channels in order to enable proactive rather than reactive supply decisions.

Optomni is also seeking interest from potential collaborative partners who are interested in:

  • Using farmgate or wholesale transactional data to forecast downstream customer demand without the need for retailer level data
  • Gaining a better understanding of retailer promotions and their effect on demand upstream in the fresh & perishable supply chain
  • Supply chain traceability

Opportunity background: OmniOrder® digitalises, automates and optimises trading and supply chain management in fresh and perishables. Together with an accounting system like Xero/MYOB, OmniOrder® is a viable, faster, lower cost and lower risk alternative to a full ERP implementation.

Our composite datasets consist of a range of publicly available and proprietary data which impact consumer and wholesale demand in the fresh & perishable supply chain, enabling us to conduct demand modelling on a granular level by product, varietal, grade, and more.

Other potential applications:

We have identified similar problems around supply and demand mismatches and supply chain digitalisation in the seafood, eggs, dairy, smallgoods, and chilled/packed meat supply chains, and are interested in connecting with participants from those industries - growers and wholesalers, as well as industry groups.
