Shark depredation, where a shark consumes an animal caught by fishing gear before it can be retrieved to the fishing vessel, has been nationally acknowledged as an issue for all Australian fishing industry stakeholders. This project aims to define the characteristics of the shark species and populations involved, identify the relevant traits of the fisheries, and assess the potential impacts of shark depredation, to determine ways to mitigate and manage this source of mortality.

This project funded Fisheries Research and Development Corporation (FRDC) allowed participation in a boot camp and innovation accelerator workshops with pioneering Australian start-up incubator and consultancy, Pollenizer, to develop capacity and encourage innovation in the seafood sector.
