Driving the future of farming, using biowaste to produce 100% renewable and green hydrogen on-site and on-demand is a vision HydGene Renewables is set to achieve. The startup’s low-cost sustainable alternative for ammonia, transport and seasonal energy storage, is now seeking investors to explore alternative feedstocks and scale its technology.

A collaborative network led by T+I in Germany and UQ in Queensland can support Australian industry and researchers in finding German partners and secure funding under ZIM, Germany’s largest innovation program for small to medium size enterprises (SMEs). ZIM funds German collaborations with public and private non-profit research and technology organisations (RTOs) to develop new or significantly improve existing products, processes or technical services. 

This year marks Australia’s first harvests of commercial-grade, farmed ocean seaweeds – the first in September, the second in November. Both harvests, in Tasmania, have occurred under the auspices of the Seaweed Solutions Cooperative Research Centres Project (CRC-P), funded through the Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources.

Off the back of this, Australian Eggs has recently developed a solar calculator tool to show the economic and sustainable benefits of solar.
