Vessel network connectivity trial
The livestock export industry and the regulator are increasingly interested in collecting data from sensors and smart devices to provide automated and independent monitoring and recording of conditions on the ships. However, the lack of connectivity on vessels as well as between vessels and the cloud is a major barrier to this happening. With funding from the Australian Government, this project identified a range of technology with potential to solve this issue, and successfully trialled a Bluetooth mesh network on a ship.
