Sustainable feeds to optimise layers' productive life
This project investigates the impacts of several alternative protein ingredients including insect meals on laying performance, egg quality, and welfare within Australian egg industry. Australian egg production systems differ when compared to others in terms of the type of diets, breeds, and availability of local feed ingredients. It is important to understand the usefulness of emerging feed ingredients in the context of the Australian egg industry. This proposal also fills gaps in identifying the optimal dietary formulations for implementing low crude protein practices in diets based on alternative ingredients using feed enzymes and synthetic amino acids.
