Post-doctoral Fellowship - Enhancing Genomic Prediction for Sorghum to deal with genotype-by-environment interactions for yield

This project will investigate the opportunity to develop more powerful genomic prediction methods that can better handle the effects of genotype-by-environment interactions using the sorghum crop growth model available within the APSIM platform. With enhanced genomic prediction capability that can better deal with the effects of genotype-by-environment interactions sorghum breeders will be able to expand their uses of genomic prediction technology and accelerate the development of hybrids with improved yield potential and yield stability. In turn, the availability of hybrids with improved yield stability will give farmers improved options for dealing with the challenging variable sorghum production environments of Australia.
