Genetic solution to crown rot in barley
The aim of this investment is to screen diverse barley germplasm, identify and then characterise novel sources of resistance to crown rot - a disease that would cause significant losses if control measures were not in place. These sources of resistance will be delivered to Australian barley breeders in adapted germplasm with relevant molecular markers and to develop new barley cultivars with increased resistance to crown rot.
