Forage Value Index
This project involves the ongoing development and updating of the Forage Value Index (FVI). The FVI is a tool that ranks the relative profitability of all the main commercially available cultivars of perennial ryegrass and therefore helps Australian dairy producers make more informed decisions when selecting perennial ryegrass cultivars. The current project involves the addition of new traits other than yield to the index, such as nutritive value and persistence, as well as the expansion of the tool to other species including annual and Italian ryegrass and Tall Fescue.
