Delivering on the Dairy Sector Food Waste Action Plan - Actions 1 & 2

Operationalize the Dairy Sector Food Waste Action Plan by implementing Action 1 and Action 2, with the goal of advancing food waste reduction efforts in the dairy industry through standardized data collection and targeted measures to reduce process-related waste

The implementation of Action 1 and 2 aim at: Improving monitoring: Facilitate ongoing and consistent monitoring of food waste throughout the dairy supply chain to track progress and performance accurately via creation of industry wide standardised templates. Providing standardised reporting tools: As raw milk undergoes transformation into diverse products with differing compositions, there is a crucial need to develop standardized milk equivalent calculator to consider the amount of raw milk which would be required to produce the products in order to facilitate more meaningful discussions and reporting on food loss. Facilitating root cause analysis: Supporting site assessments for the dairy supply chain to identify and prevent waste.
