This project will support the recruitment and the development of research capacity within New South Wales Department of Primary Industries (NSW DPI) to increase the level of R&D capacity within the southern grains region. This will be undertaken in a partnership between New South Wales Department of Primary Industries (NSW DPI) and GRDC to appoint up to six positions over a five-year period. The positions are being considered to build new research capacity in priority areas and as a succession plan for the retirement of key researchers. Priority research areas include a crop nutrition research agronomist, canola physiologist, weeds crop research agronomist, row crop research agronomist, farming systems research agronomist and a crop physiologist. By the end of the project New South Wales Department of Primary Industries (NSW DPI) will have created up to six permanently funded positions that will be ongoing.
