Monash Food Innovation (MFI)

MFI connects industry and government with interdisciplinary research capabilities to support innovation across the food industry with expertise in areas including waste valorisation, alternative protein and sustainable packaging. It provides a single gateway for organisations seeking innovation-driven growth, evidence-based policy development and support for complex R&D projects.

Monash Sustainable Development Institute (MSDI)

MSDI supports projects framed by the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals aimed at achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Its world-leading interdisciplinary research drives practical change in communities, industry and government. MDSI houses the Australia/Pacific regional network of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network, Climate Works Australia (CWA) and Behaviour Works Australia (BWA).

CWA’s work on Food and Land addresses how to produce enough food for a growing population sustainabl,y while supporting a transition to net zero emissions. CWA takes a participatory approach to developing transition pathways and roadmaps, working with government, business and community leaders for implementation. BWA is the largest university-based behaviour change research enterprise in Australia. BWA has developed a growing portfolio of research projects in the agriculture sector which have been used to better understand landholder decisions, experiences and behaviours in relation to energy efficiency, biosecurity and biodiversity protection.
