Industry challenge:

Due to the increased interest in alternative energies for horticulture and agriculture, the establishment of a new international ZIM innovation network in this field is planned for 2023. The aim of the network is to develop new and specially adapted technical solutions, including renewable energies, transitional and decentralized energy, hydrogen technology and energy storage systems alongside with waste recycling, which enable economic and sustainable agricultural production.

Priority areas:

1. Energy production from agricultural residues and from wastes
2. Intelligent control systems for dual use of area
3. Sustainable materials for renewable energy technologies.

Current opportunity:

T+I Consult (Germany) are seeking interest from Australian research institutions, companies and industry groups to join a ZIM Innovation Network "Agri energy". Joining the network will give access to german research institutions, industry, farmers and SMEs. Development of research projects and potential commercial partnerships will be facilitated via T+I Consult as the network organiser.

Within the planned network for energy the aim is to foster the transfer of knowledge between Australia and Germany to contribute to sustainable solutions for the energy market. The goal is the integration of actors of different business fields e.g., agriculture, engineering and aquaculture.

The Agri Energy network is planned to be started at the end of 2023.

Opportunity background:

ZIM is a federal government funding program that supports German SME’s solve problems via facilitated innovation projects and clusters. Networks are required to have scientific research organisations, industry partners and international partners involved.
