The Myrtle Trading Co: design and build novel lemon myrtle harvester
-crop-526x414.png)
Opportunity for
- Machinery manufacturers, engineering and solution providers capable of developing or retrofitting existing machinery to harvest Lemon Myrtle trees.
Opportunity description
Industry challenge:
Australia is the home of Lemon Myrtle. Traditionally planted with large inter-rows, harvest was conducted up and down each inter-row. With a new innovative and much denser planting pattern the inter-row has been scaled back and harvest will now be completed 'overhead' by straddling each hedge row and cutting from the top (think tea harvesting). The new harvest method allows the industry to accelerate volume/scale.
Current opportunity:
The Myrtle Trading Co are seeking engagement from solution providers, machinery manufacturers and engineering businesses capable of designing, developing, retrofitting existing machinery to harvest high density lemon myrtle trees in Australia.
Potential other applications:
This concept can be extended by function perfomed (e.g. spraying) and to other industries requiring overhead cut (e.g. Tea, Tea Tree).
