Nanobubble Agritech: Irrigation technology - seed investment

Opportunity for

  • Investors and commercial partners looking to back disruptor technology, moving from start-up to operating in market, at an international scale.

  • Farmers and growers looking to sit at the frontier of irrigated production, interested in trialing partial or full-scale installations on-farm or in-orchard to build dataset of plant/crop impact across industries.

^This opportunity is only for professional and sophisticated investors.

Opportunity description

Industry challenge:

Nanobubbles significantly improve water use efficiency in soil-based farming, essentially doubling the productive capacity of water; this is critical in markets where water availability is restricted (a major factor in almost every major growing country, and only being further exacerbated by climate change).

Nanobubble technology means that for farmers in areas where water is being restricted, production levels can be maintained. In areas where water is freely available as an input, production can be increased.

Nanobubbles are described as a future multi-billion dollar market, with a wide range of applicable industries such as wastewater remediation, aquaculture, medical application, and process engineering. The large scale global irrigation machinery market is expected to reach $6.6 billion p.a. by 2026; but, there is currently a gap in the supply of nanobubble technology to this market.

Current opportunity:

Nanobubble Agritech are seeking to fill this gap, by supplying retrofittable, in-line nanobubble systems to growers for use within their existing irrigation infrastructure. This allows growers to access the benefits of nanobubbles (step-change yield increases, improved water use efficiency, improved plant health), in a cost-accessible way.

In order to grow Nanobubble Agritech from startup with initial feasibility results and a beta product, to a globally operating market leader, investment is required to:

  • Build a dataset of nanobubble treatment impact on global crops;
  • Establish market traction in key areas and build sales; and
  • Refine systems and product installation/servicing processes.

Opportunity background:

Impact of nanobubble treatment on a range of crops as been confirmed, with up to double yields compared to conventional irrigation in pasture. Marked yield improvements have also been demonstrated in kiwifruit, apples and citrus. These step-change yield improvements have been delivered using the same amount or less water than conventional irrigation, providing a chemical-free solution to growers facing water rights restrictions and unprecedented climate variability.

Nanobubble Agritech’s individual nanobubble generator significantly outperforms all known major nanobubble companies by approximately 35-100% at large water flows required for soil-based irrigation (combined improvement including the increase in dissolved oxygen content and reduced OPEX). Nanobubble Agritech complete in-line system, double pass system can transfer well over double the oxygen to water in a single pass than any other competitor on market and using less than half the energy input. An independent FTO search has been completed, and a patent is in process of being submitted. Initial feedback is that the patent will be strongly defendable.

Opportunity potential other applications:

Nanobubbles are described as a future multi-billion dollar market, with a wide range of applicable industries such as wastewater remediation, aquaculture, medical application, and process engineering. Nanobubble Agritech's systems and IP have potential for compatibility in other high-water-flow industries, such as wastewater treatment and mining.
