Agerris' Digital Farmhand: delivering robotic and AI powered solutions to farmers globally

Opportunity for

Investors to help Agerris scale ($5M capital raise) production of their light-weight, intelligent, mobile, solar-electric robotic platform that can autonomously navigate around a farm, including:

  • Investors with an appetite to support tightly coupled hardware and software opportunities
  • Investors with expertise in scaling including manufacturing, logistics and distribution and/or a strategic view of AgTech and Horticulture
  • Investors interested in using on farm data to optimise food value chains

Opportunity challenge

Agerris is simultaneously solving the on-farm labour and environmental sustainability pressures that the horticulture industry is facing. The industry is heavily reliant on a casual workforce that has become harder to acquire and more expensive, whilst also under increasing community pressure to improve environmental sustainability such as reduction in soil compaction and the use of chemicals.

Agerris' solution is a light-weight, intelligent, mobile, solar-electric robotic platform (the Digital Farmhand) that can autonomously navigate around a farm. The robotic platform has precision sensors and on-board tools that can identify horticulture plant features in real-time down to the centimetre level and act upon its findings. Some of the robot's tools include precision weeding (automated chipping), which reduces chemical use and minimises soil cultivation, and an on-board AI system that provides farmers with real-time crop intelligence. This is unprecedented knowledge of a farm's production status down to the individual plant, e.g., plant growth state and rate, predicted harvesting time, and any anomalies in plant health.

Opportunity status

Agerris has successfully built and deployed 14 Digital Farmhand units across New South Wales, Victoria, and Queensland under various commercial contracts. They have partnered with a local manufacturing company to build the base platform, wiring and drive system. Once the robotic platform is built, Agerris can ship an integrated product including sensing and algorithms to farms within a week.

Agerris is seeking investors to participate in their $5M capital raise to support their growth who either:

  • Understand the benefits of tight coupling of hardware and software and new business model methods for this
  • Understand and provide advice on the process of scale and manufacturing, logistics and distribution
  • Understand and have a strategic view of the AgTech sector, particularly in the horticulture industry
  • Understand how data collected on farm can be used more broadly to optimise ‘whole of food production’ supply chains

Potential other applications

The Digital Farmhand can also be utilised in:

  • tree crops;
  • sports fields;
  • mining; and
  • construction.
