Validating HSRA data for shipping routes crossing the equator
The heat stress risk assessment (HSRA) model used by the livestock export industry ahead of each voyage from Australia uses historical weather data for shipping routes and ports to determine the likelihood of hot and humid weather. It allows exporters to adjust the number of livestock loaded based on the risk of extreme hot and cold weather causing stress to the sheep and cattle on the ships. This project provided data for additional shipping routes and 63 ports.
