LiDAR and PACE for Vineyards

The use of vehicle-mounted sensors to adjust spray application and dose rates to match canopy area can potentially realise savings in the order of 10 - 20 per cent of the application volume. Greater control of spray application also contributes to minimising issues such as off-target drift, chemical exposure to humans and the environment, and chemical resistance while ensuring excellent pest and disease control. This investment will develop a Pesticide Adjusted for the Canopy Environment (PACE) system that uses LiDAR sensors on a ground-based vehicle to analyse the grapevine canopy and adjust spray application in response to the presence or absence of canopy.
