Work Health and Safety Industry Uplift 2025
Problem
Australian red meat processors face a critical gap in training and education relating to workers' compensation, workplace safety, people risk, and employment law. Personnel tasked with injury management and return-to-work responsibilities often have limited development opportunities beyond basic courses. This skills gap restricts processors' ability to effectively manage workplace risk, injuries and compliance obligations.
Solution
AEGIS Risk Managements Services will provide a structured education and training program tailors to the meat processing industry. This will focus on:
• People Risk
• Workers’ Compensation
• Workplace Safety
• Industrial Relations and Employment Law
This program will feature an interactive two-day seminar designed to provide attendees with practical knowledge and tools that can be instantly applied in their workplace settings. Delivery will be targeted to key processing regions including Queensland, Victoria, Western Australia, Northern NSW and Southern NSW, with locations adjusted according to member demand.
Impact
This project will lift the capability of injury management and return-to-work personnel across the red meat processing industry. By providing targeted, practical training, processors will be equipped to improve workplace practices, reduce claim severity, and strengthen workforce resilience.
Expected outcomes include:
• Increased awareness and knowledge - this will be measured via pre- and post-workshop surveys of participants' confidence and understanding.
• Improved workplace practices - assessed through follow-up surveys 3-6 months post-training to capture how knowledge has been applied in processors' operations.
• Reduced claims impact - high potential for processors that actively apply their training.
This project showcases the industry's proactive investment in workforce wellbeing. Positioning AMPC as supporting members to create safer workplaces, strengthen compliance and deliver long-term savings.
