Virtual Fencing for cropping and weed management
Virtual fencing provides the opportunity to maximise animal production, maintain sustainable crop and pasture grazing pressure and control weeds through grazing pressure in integrated management programs. To date, the use of research-only manually directed devices has limited the development of this technology. The advent of GPS-linked devices has the potential to allow deployment of the technology over larger numbers of animals, expanded areas and in more detailed applications. This investment will examine the effective use and economic viability of GPS-based virtual fencing in cattle and sheep grazing of crops, pasture and fallows.
