Validation of pulse oximeters in sheep
Barber’s Pole Worm (BPW) is a blood feeding intestinal worm of sheep that can cause significant productivity losses and result in death if left unattended. This investment seeks to provide proof of concept for the correlation of peripheral blood oxygen saturation data, collected via pulse oximetry, with the early signs of BPW infection. Establishment of proof of concept would provide the foundation for further research and development into practical on-farm pulse oximetry use for the management of BPW before it impacts animal health and welfare
