Validation of Genomic Breeding Values

This project aims to independently evaluate Merino genomic breeding values to validate their accuracy against animal performance at one and two years of age. By assessing 2,000 sire evaluation lambs across three sites, the study seeks to build breeder confidence in early DNA-based selection, reducing reliance on costly ASBV testing and enabling earlier, more efficient culling decisions.
