UTS Wool Bioharvesting

Australia leads the world in wool bioharvesting science, a technology that could revolutionise the wool industry and deliver vast economic impacts to Australia and its woolgrowers. A system to remove biologically weakened wool from sheep is essential, while the changing way wool is removed (small pieces, not entire fleece) provides opportunities to automate downstream processes to enhance the benefits. This project will design, build and test components of semi-autonomous systems, consisting of a removal mechanism for biologically weakened wool, sheep handling to aid automated removal, wool inspection to identify contaminants and classify fibres, and wool handling and bailing
