Use of Meat Messaging and Barcodes as Shipping marks to US

This project seeks to extend the existing Meat Messaging Portal to support the department in discussions with US authorities to gain the acceptance of bar codes as shipping marks. Shipping marks are required by US legislation, however, it is up to the exporting country to gain the acceptance of US authorities for the shipping marks it proposes to use. This project proposes to conduct trials with exporters using Meat Messaging to link the unique bar codes on cartons with the details shown on the government health certificate, and thus satisfy the US that bar codes can be used as shipping marks.
