UoW Wool Bioharvesting

This project aims to develop cost-effective methods of removing weakened wool. Three methods are to be developed: a manual method that uses a new handpiece; a semi-autonomous system; and a fully autonomous system. The methods to remove the wool will be safer for sheep and operators and require less training to be able to use them effectively. This will help buffer the wool industry from skilled worker shortages. The key goal is to allow wool to be harvested at a lower cost, increasing profit margins for wool growers, and increasing wool's competitiveness against other products
