Unlocking the potential of the cow

The objective of this project is to profitably optimise per-cow productivity and longevity by improving understanding and mitigating herd-level risks that impact cow health and genetic potential, while also enhancing Australia’s dairy research capability. It focuses on developing management practices suited to NSW conditions to achieve profitable gains in productivity and wellbeing in commercial settings. Key areas include improving cow survival, developing tools for early detection and management of viral and bacterial diseases, using milk as a diagnostic fluid, and advancing nutrition, environmental, and health management strategies.
