Trapping efficacy in table grape vineyards for Area Wide Management of Queensland Fruit Fly that supports market access

This investment will enable understanding of the efficacy of the different Queensland Fruit Fly (Qfly) trapping systems available - baiting, cover sprays, male annihilation technique (MAT) and vineyard hygiene. It will identify the different purposes and best practice for each trap type and how to integrate trapping for management of Qfly in table grapes. Trapping currently occurs to monitor populations of Qfly over time, but there is little evidence-based support for the use of traps at high density, or for the newer female-biased traps. A trial assessing the efficacy of these traps will guide the optimum strategies for management of Qfly both 'on-farm' and regionally.
