Projects
The creation of a transparent and ethical skilled meat worker pathway between Southeast Asia and Australia to enhance meat worker suitability and engagement
The project is a strategic response to ongoing industry labour shortages. The initiative will modernise and standardise current international labour mobility practices and better attract, select, train and onboard the right candidates for industry in a systematic way. The project will create training programs and pathways between Vietnam and Australia to provide an integrated pathway from attraction through to on-boarding that provides job-ready employees.
The training program will be created in collaboration with key industry stakeholders (e.g., AMPC, MINTRAC, government bodies) and will include the principles of the AMPC voluntary code of conduct for the employment of migrant workers. The training will facilitate the development of skills, knowledge and attributes that allow future employees to thrive in an Australian meat processing environment.
The objective of the project is the establishment of an ethical, transparent and sustainable labour pathway that provides skilled meatworkers (e.g. slaughtermen, boners, slicers) who are physically fit to work, have the required English skills and visa requirements and are prepared for work in an Australian processing environment. The innovative approach will allow better job-skill alignment, higher job satisfaction and increased retention
