Strategies for improving labour conditions within the Australian cotton value chain

Activities of a range of participants across the cotton value chain can represent a reputational risk to the Australian cotton industry and to its valued supply chain partners, including brands and retailers. Labour standards, particularly in downstream processing, have most recently been highlighted as an area of concern. This investment will investigate the relevance of key Asian and African garment industries to the Australian cotton industry and explore ways through which the Australian cotton industry can support compliance with labour standards along the value chain.
