Stem nematode in oats

Stem nematode can be very destructive to oaten hay and has been kept in check by the development of resistant oat varieties grown in rotation with non-host crops. A recent outbreak of stem nematode was discovered in a Brusher oat crop. This project will investigate if the stem nematode found in the latest outbreak has overcome resistance and, if appropriate, produce data to revise stem nematode resistance classifications of current varieties.
