Soil System Research – physical, chemical and biological processes for plant growth and nutrient cycling down the whole soil profile

Most R&D on soils of cotton farming systems to date has focused on the near-surface (0-30cm) soil layers, but there is growing evidence that the processes and mechanisms operating in deeper soil layers are of considerable significance to crop production and sustainability. This investment will address a series of key knowledge gaps relating to soil processes at depth under cotton farming systems.
