Siriver – producing lucerne breeders seed
Siriver is the most popular and important variety of lucerne planted in Australia. The hybrid variety has been in existence since the late 1970's but only 0.96 grams of breeder's seed was left. This project will develop a strategy for, and then, produce a minimum of 3kg of seed per year for two years (6kg in total). The seed will be stored by the Australian Pastures Genebank to ensure good quality seed is available for future needs.
