SA Wild Dog Coordinator Supplement 21-22 Fencing

Additional coordination capacity in wild dog management in South Australia (SA), at a state-wide level will deliver: - Supplementary funding to support additional Coordination and support activities in WD control, in support of the re-construction of the SA WD Fence (AWI loaned Exclusion Fencing Construction Unit – EFCU – “Q1”). - This project will provide an additional 0.5 FTE to coordinate additional WD control activities – in excess of the usual SA aerial and ground baiting, trapping and bounties; and engage with landholders, wild dog controllers and contractors, on and adjacent to the (moving) site(s) of the SA WD Fence reconstruction as this progresses from east to west along 1600km of the 2150km of the SA WD Fence. - Enhanced WD control along the SA WD Fence during reconstruction over the period of FY 21/22. - Ensuring that WD predation on SA merino flocks south of the SAWDF remains at or below current low levels during this period of higher risk due to reduced protection whilst the fence is being re-built. - Assistance to SA Woolgrowers and particularly those adjacent to the SAWDF, to maintain production during this important renewal phase of this key livestock protection asset.
