SA WD Control Coordinator
The proposed SA Wild Dog Control Coordinator - Stage III project sits within the much larger "Eradication of Wild Dogs from SA Sheep Country" project - 10 years - $15 million.
Australian Wool Innovation (AWI) has supported a full time State Wild Dog Coordinator (SWDC) in SA since 2018. The activities of the SWDC, supported by the rebuild activities and landscape boards, have led to historically low populations of wild dogs in SA and properties now restocking with sheep.
A dedicated SWDC position would continue to coordinate wild dog control activities in SA over 3 years, ensuring that actions are widespread, effective, efficient, and responsive to the needs of sheep producers. This application is for funding to extend the SWDC role for another 3 years, with AWIs contribution to be $135,000 each year and overall cost being $405,000.
