Ruminal Acidosis and In-Feed Antimicrobials

This project addresses three key drivers: optimizing herd productivity by preventing subacute ruminal acidosis (SARA), which affects 8–12% of Australian dairy cows; providing evidence to support the industry’s commitment to antimicrobial stewardship under the Australian Dairy Sustainability Framework amid growing media scrutiny; and protecting trade with the EU by ensuring farmers and nutrition advisors avoid using in-feed antimicrobials for yield or growth promotion.
