Robotic Removal of Button Bone and Flat Bone after Striploin Chine Bone Removal – Stage 1 Practical Feasibility
This first stage feasibility is to examine the following: - Method of locating and fixation of a striploin primal for processing by robotics - Evaluation of low cost sensing solutions to locate in 3D space geometric features that may be used for removal of button bones and flat bones remaining on the strip-loin after the chine-bone has been cut by bandsaw. - Conduct trials using robotic set up already integrated by BMC and available at USQ, evaluating cutting tools for separation of the button bones and flat bones on the striploin in a manner that achieves the best yield results as well as finished quality. - Conduct benefits and value proposition assessments in support of a practical solution that may be adopted by Oakey and the Australian Beef sector. - Plan a detailed development towards a first integrated solution that can perform the task at 400 pieces per hour. - Produce a final report and a stage 2 proposal.
