Red meat processing cost to operate analysis 2025
Problem
Australian red meat processors operate in a global market however do not have a clear understanding of our relative cost to operate (and the relative impact of domestic regulatory costs) compared with international competitors (New Zealand, USA, Brazil and Argentina).
Solution
The project will update the previous international cost comparison analysis of operational processing costs, their key components and proportion of regulatory costs within Australia, New Zealand, United States, Brazil and Argentina, Using both public and private data sources.
Impact
The project will provide valuable benchmarks to help industry drive productivity and cost reductions, including through improved regulation.
