“Ready, set, go!” preparing for emergency disease outbreaks in aquatic animals

The project aims to improve industry and government preparedness for emergency disease outbreaks in aquatic animals, such as barramundi, prawns, and oysters. By testing existing contingency planning arrangements and conducting scenario-based discussion exercises, the project enhances shared understanding among industry and governments regarding their responsibilities and capabilities in responding to exotic diseases. This testing and identification of gaps in preparedness during peace time allows for effective solutions to be developed and implemented, minimizing the impact of real-world outbreaks. The project also promotes a common understanding of roles, responsibilities, and expectations between industry and government, fostering coordinated and efficient emergency responses at different levels.
